Brewed in the cutest lil mill turned pub you ever did see, you'll have to do a double take to make sure you're not in Ireland. Ashton Brewing Company is a true family-run, local hotspot for good ale and hearty food. They carry a number of year-round favourites like their flagship Amber Ale and their iconic Blueberry Wheat, as well as seasonal brews like the Harvest Brown with hints of caramel, coffee, and chocolate, and East Coast IPA with a taste of citrus flavoured hops and big aroma.
Address: 113-159 Old Mill Road, Ashton ON
Beyond the Pale Brewing Company
Located in the heart of Ottawa, Beyond the Pale was established in 2012, expanding their selections and business rapidly ever since. If you're a fan of a good oatmeal stout, you'll love The Darkness, with bold coffee and dark chocolate notes. Or if you're more of a pale ale aficionado, give their Pale Ale Project a try, with its bright and refreshing flavours.
Address: Unit 108, 250 City Centre Avenue, Ottawa ON
Did you know a Bavarian-inspired craft brewery could be found in Carleton Place? The Ottawa-area founder decided that his hometown needed to experience the beer gardens that he loved so much while working in Austria. So, he moved home and Braumeister was created. Try their Route 21 Vienna lager for an authentic taste of Bavaria or their Husaria Pils for a pilsner made with special Polish hops.
Address: 19 Moore Street, Carleton Place ON
Local beer made with natural artesian spring water? Yeah, it's a thing! Cartwright Springs Brewery is located just 15 metres from this special water source, and it's their mission to be environmentally conscious brewers. The mineral-rich spring water gives their I'd Tap That Pilsner a spicy character or try their Honey Lager for a sweeter brew made with honey from a local apiary.
Address: 239 Deer Run Road, Pakenham ON
Located in the beautiful town of Perth, Perth Brewery is well known in the area. They brew fresh, high-quality beer using local ingredients. Enjoy classic flavours like their Last Duel Lager (Perth was the site of Canada's last fatal duel in 1833) and Easy Amber, or explore their more adventurous tastes like the Calypso IPA that boasts sunny fruit flavours and O'Canada Maple (the name says it all)!
Address: 121 Dufferin Street, Perth ON
Founder Marc Bu thought up Square Timber Brewing Company long before it officially opened in 2013 on his 15 acres of wooded heaven in Pembroke. Named for the square timber industry of the area, Marc's beer and business philosophy reflect the personality and soul of the people of the Ottawa Valley. For a taste of Marc's childhood summers in Saskatchewan try the Bunny Hug IPA with tastes of tropical fruit and citrus, or the Matrimonial Cake Stout for something darker with flavours of rich, dark fruit and toasted oats.
Address: 800 Woito Station Road, Pembroke Ontario
Three friends founded Whitewater Brewing along the banks of the Ottawa River in 2011. It was after a rafting trip that they realized that the Ottawa Valley had some of the best ingredients to make craft brews. Try their Legion Lager for a fresh, easy-drinking lager or for a taste of summer sample their award-winning Blood Moon sour — it's ripe with the taste of blood oranges.
Address: 78 Pembroke Street, Cobden ON
4 Degrees takes the title of Smiths Falls' first brewery! To say they've become a signature of the heart of the Rideau Canal is no understatement. Their two keystone beers, the North of 7, a Helles Lager with subtle hoppy undertones, and South of 7, a Red Cream with a bolder flavour, reflect the wilderness north of Highway 7 and the growing towns located south of it. Other classics include their Frost & Woods '55 oak infused lager and their Old Slys '69 IPA.
Address: 275 Brockville Street, Smiths Falls ON
